I have to admit, when I first began having struggles with the health of my hair, I was tempted to blame it on my hair products, including my shampoo. That seemed to be the easiest thing to point my finger at. But after digging in deep to research what the culprits could be, I realized my shampoo was only part of the problem....
Truth be told, after having blood drawn and reviewing in depth lab results, I learned I had severe vitamin deficiencies and my hormones were out of balance. We immediately went to work on overhauling my body with whole food and herbal supplements, and lifestyle changes including the foods I ate, and the products I was using in my home, as well as applying to my body and hair.
The goal was to replace products I had used for years with healthier alternatives that were made with natural or organic ingredients. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, it actually wasn't.
At first I thought I had found good "natural" alternatives, but when looking closer at ingredients, it appeared as though it was just a marketing tactic - the ingredients really weren't all that natural! And when I finally did find hair and skin care products that were made with better ingredients, I often found they really didn't leave my hair or skin with the texture or appearance I had been accustomed to with my old products.
This is where the foundation of LuxeOrganix began - when I was sick and tired of not being able to find a healthy product that would leave me with beautiful results!
Fast forward to years later, and looking back I can tell you that though the hair products I used definitely played a key part of regaining thicker, stronger and shinier hair, it was the holistic, overall approach of getting my body right on the inside and outside that made it all come together.
I share this with you up front because surely we can agree that many companies broadcast that their product is the magic antidote to solving these kind of hair problems, when they know that a topical product is only part of the solution! I believe it's important to be transparent so you can be equipped with accurate information to make decisions that will get you long-term healthy results and benefits.
For example, when surveying hair stylists, the "Top 3 Reasons" their customers had experienced hair thinning or breakage, the answers all lined up as:
- Stress and/or Hormone Imbalance.
- Damaged Hair (from too many chemical treatments, such as coloring or keratin treatments, or too much heat styling or not protecting hair from heat styling).

So where do you begin if you're having hair problems?
It's all about taking a whole approach, a "holistic" approach to addressing the problem internally and externally.
We've already identified many of the "internal" factors that can be contributing to your hair problems. So now let's get to the "external" factors, such as the products that you are using topically to wash or style your hair.
Using a safe and healthy shampoo and conditioner is crucial to preventing and eliminating many common scalp and hair problems.
You may already know that your scalp produces oil that is essential to protecting and adding shine to your hair. This oil has an acidic pH. Most shampoos contain surfactants and detergents that breakdown or adhere to and wash away these oils. Most people have been conditioned to regard this process and the result, with “clean” hair.
However, most shampoos are not properly balanced. They strip your hair of these important, naturally occurring oils, leaving your hair dry, dehydrated and damaged. Stripping away these natural oils from your hair on a regular basis also can cause severe damage to the hair follicles.
And the trouble doesn’t end there.
Your scalp gets upset when these oils are removed and may experience oily or itchy, flakey, irritated scalp that is unhealthy and unattractive.
So, what do we do?
We use a “dandruff shampoo” or special scalp shampoo that temporarily removes the flakes or greasiness, only to keep it coming back days later. Then we add conditioner to try to rebalance our depleted hair. Like shampoo, many conditioners are also out of balance. They can contain too much keratin, or protein. This can cause build up and makes hair brittle and susceptible too breakage.
Many products add an abundance of synthetic oils or moisturizers which also overcompensate for the damage done by their companion shampoos. This creates an unhealthy cycle of depletion and replenishment that leaves you forever chasing the right balance – an addiction if you will – that is never cured
Why do they use ingredients that cause the same problems the shampoo is meant to prevent or eliminate?
Maybe this sounds familiar? You're frustrated with one of the following: Oily, Itching, Flaking, Dry or Irritated Scalp. So you go to the store or buy something online that is touted for solving these issues. For the first few days your hair and scalp may look or feel better, but then the same problems you used it for inevitably come back, creating a vicious cycle of stripping and causing the scalp to overcompensate by making extra oil or excessively shedding.
